Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. BACKGROUND Arterial hypertension (HTN) is the most prevalent risk factor for Atrial fibrillation (AF) through structural and functional changes left atrium. Paroxysmal AF mainly asymptomatic silent forms in patients with HTN are associated thromboembolic complications. However, prompt identification at may be strategic preventing purposes. PURPOSE To assess sensitive predictive parameters onset using two-dimensional (2D) conventional speckle tracking echocardiography atrium (LA) ventricle (LV). METHODS A total 165 consecutive were screened participation study. Only 80 met inclusion criteria ( age below 60 years; well controlled or AF; without concomitant disease other factors AF).They separated two groups: 43 37 HTN. All underwent standard 2D volumetric Speckle analysis assessment of: LV global longitudinal strain; LA LATEF), passive LAPEF), active (LAAEF) emptying fractions; stiffness expansion index; - reservoir (LASr), conduit (LAScd) contractile (LASct) strain. RESULTS There statistically significant differences between patents group in: LASr (30.88 ± 3.99% vs. 27.89 8.21 %, p= 0.049), LASct (-17.64 2.04% -14.4 6.74 0.007) index (122 42% 174 115%; p = 0.014). no indices. Multiple regression demonstrated that B= 0.043’ 0.001; 95%CI -0.063- -0.023) (B= 0.023; 0.001, 0.117- 0.349) independent predictors hypertensive patients. Conclusion Preserved compliance function essential maintenance sinus rhythm younger These findings could used prediction cardiovascular events population a huge social impact.

Association Between Left Atrial Stiffness Index and Atrial Fibrillation Recurrence in Patients Undergoing Left Atrial Ablation.
BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with significant abnormalities of left atrial (LA) systolic and diastolic function. This study describes a novel measure, LA stiffness index, that estimates LA diastolic function and its association with clinical outcomes of catheter ablation. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 219 AF patients referred for ablation (59% paroxysmal, mean CHA2DS2VAS...

background: about half of all patients who undergo mitral valve surgery suffer from atrial fibrillation (af). cox described the surgical cut-and-sew maze procedure, which is an effective surgical method but has some complications. this study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of a substitution method of radiofrequency ablation (rfa) for patients undergoing mitral valve surgery with af. metho...
متن کاملA Semi-Automated Algorithm for Segmentation of the Left Atrial Appendage Landing Zone: Application in Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion Procedures
Background: Mechanical occlusion of the Left atrial appendage (LAA) using a purpose-built device has emerged as an effective prophylactic treatment in patients with atrial fibrillation at risk of stroke and a contraindication for anticoagulation. A crucial step in procedural planning is the choice of the device size. This is currently based on the manual analysis of the “Device Landing Zone” fr...
متن کاملAssociation Between the Left Atrial and Left Atrial Appendages Systole Strain Rate in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
BACKGROUND The aim of this research was to explore the association between the left atrial (LA) and left atrial appendages (LAA) systole strain rate (SSR) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), and to provide evidence to aid in the assessment of disease progression. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 180 patients with AF were selected for the study (130 patients with paroxysmal AF (Par AF) and...
